The nearest station to this place is Seiseki sakuragaoka station, it is on the Keio line. The train is a direct 25min path to Shinjuku and in the opposing direction, 30min to Takao mountain (高尾山, Takaosan.) Which is famous because it offers beautiful scenery, a temple, and leisurely hiking (but there is a cable car to the top of the mountain available) it is a beautiful place.
Sanrio Puroland (Hello Kitty Land) is a 25min bus ride from the station (Stroller is OK and convenient to use on the bus)
Also, this area is famous because it is setting for the movie ”Whisper of the Heart” a Studio Ghibli movie. The movie is anime but you can see the real sites from the movie while exploring the town. It is fun to compare the real sites to the anime (fun for taking pictures!)
There are two shopping complexes within a five minute walk. (both have supermarkets, restaurants fashion and gift stores.)
There is a small park close to the apartment that takes under a minute to walk to, there are two play sets on either side of the park and a water feature. It is a nice place to let the kids run around and use their energy.
